When CEO Hubert Joly began Best Buy’s turnaround in 2012 one of his key executives challenged the team to revise their definition to “service over policy”. The decision to focus on the best interests of customers over company policy freed employees up to make decisions that encouraged brand loyalty and improved company culture.
