An on-base/speed guy needs consistent bat-to-ball, the ability to take walks and enough impact to drive the gaps. You don’t need 15 HR, but you need to show some extra-base ability.

The biggest thing I’d tell a JUCO freshman?

Attack your weaknesses and understand your strengths.

Don’t ignore the holes in your game. Work on them so they don’t prevent you from getting to the next level.

But don’t become so obsessed with being “well-rounded” that you lose sight of what makes you different.
