The only easy day was yesterday. This is one of the more well-known sayings of the SEALs. When constantly pushing yourself to excel, there will be challenges that make every day a battle.

The 40 percent rule is simple. When your mind tells you that you’re exhausted, fried, and totally tapped out, you’re really only 40 percent done: You still have 60 percent left in your tank.
So why do we stop? In part, the problem lies with motivation: It’s hard to keep going indefinitely when your heart is pounding and your legs are screaming. So how do we achieve more when our mind and body say were done? Turn as long as you can into just five seconds or some other bite-sized measurable amount.
When “all” you have to do is do the best you can for a finite period of time, or one task at a time, then it’s much easier to find the energy and focus you need to be at your best.

Impermanence doesn’t make things less valuable. If fact it’s quite the opposite. Our lives and everything in them are borrowed and can’t be held onto forever. Instead of allowing impermanence to be a source of fear try viewing it as a source of joy. Like a free vacation.  Appreciate the ride you’re on. The objective is to become less attached or more detached. Life is fleeting so find peace with things that are out of our control.

Chronos is the forward propelling time that we measure with clocks and calendars, but time does not end there. The Greeks’ second word for time is “kairos”.  “Kairos” is what many philosophers would refer to as “deep time”.  When you find yourself in Kairos time, you completely lose track of Chronos time. A state of flow is activated, and it cannot be measured but only experienced.

Before posting to social media ask yourself if what you’re saying is true, kind, necessary, helpful, and authentic. When you’re about to post ask yourself “is this me?” Is this an accurate reflection of my life and a sincere expression of how you’re feeling right now?

I don’t believe in willpower. If you ask someone if they want to lose weight and they don’t take action it’s not because they don’t want to be fit. It’s because the pain of not achieving the goal didn’t outweigh the pleasure of the status quo. When you’re ready for change you’ll do it. When you’re not you won’t.
